Mission

The tenets of a democratic, diverse, plural, economically varied and geographically vast India have to include freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of speech and freedom to decide what different individuals in this plural society want to and not want to see, hear or think. This is fundamental to being a plural democracy. Any Orwellian move to disallow this freedom will always be considered retrograde and India has proven time and again that national acts in this direction have consistently failed.

NCNB is a network of every individual, editors, journalists and media executives who share a common dedication to quality, independent journalism, Freedom of speech. Together, we promote the conditions that allow journalism to fulfill its public function, the most important of which is the media's ability to operate free from interference and without fear of retaliation.

Our mission is to defend media freedom, stop fake news and the free flow of news wherever they are threatened.
